Celebrate all things Flowers and Bees at our week long event

At the height of the garden season we open up the whole site with a meadows trail and special events for a celebration of all things flowers and bees. Here’s what’s happening throughout the week.

Self Guided Meadows Trails

Pick up a trail leaflet at the Discovery Centre and head out on to the site to discover our amazing Pictorial Meadow wildflowers.

10th – 16th July, 11am -3pm. Discovery Centre, £1 per guide (normal entrance fees apply)

Pictorial Meadow Expert Tours

Want to know a little more about our flowers? Get the inside science of how we develop our wildflower seed mixes on a Pictorial Meadows guided tour. At the height of the season, our expert guide will take you through our meadows and tell the story of how they came to be.

Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th July, 11am start until 12:30pm, Discovery Centre, £6 per person with tea, coffee and biscuits

Floral Dressed Banquet Room

See the Turret House Banqueting Room transformed by floral art inspired by Pictorial Meadows.

Monday to Friday, 10th – 14th July, 11.30am and 1pm, £2 per adult, accompanied children free (normal entrance fees apply)

Saturday and Sunday, 15th and 16th July, 11.30, 1pm, 2.30pm (as part of our history tours), £2 per adult, accompanied children free (normal entrance fees apply)

Twilight Concert in the Ruins

The silver Spectrum band return for a very special concert performing a wide range of music including classical, film, swing, jazz and contemporary pieces in the grounds of the Tudor ruins.

Wednesday 12th July, 7pm – 9pm (weather dependent), Free (donations welcome)

Twilight concert in the ruins at sheffield manor lodge


Join our volunteers as they create their annual well dressing. Help gather flowers and build a portrait of George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury. The well dressing will be displayed Saturday and Sunday as part of our open weekend.

Friday 14th July, 11am – 3pm approx, Discovery Centre (normal entrance fees apply)

The Big Draw

Join us at Sheffield Manor Lodge as we take part in The Big Draw, the world’s bigest drawing festival.
Manor Oaks Farm
Join artist Charlotte Hutton and draw scenes with textiles and other media.
Tudor Ruins
Have a go at clay flower modelling, pressings and scenes with artist Sophie Lester.

Saturday 15th July, 11am – 3pm, Discovery Centre and Manor Oaks Farm, Free (normal entrance fees apply)

Family Bee and Butterfly Trails

Join our ranger as we hunt for bee and butterflies amongst our beautiful wildflowers. Hunts go regularly through out the day. Check the board by the cafe for details.

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July, Manor Oaks Farm, Free

And its our open weekend…

As well as our special events we will have history through of the ruins and turret house on Saturday and Sunday (£2 per adult, children free), Meet the animals sessions 10:30am and 11:30am (£1 per child), donkey rides 1pm – 2:15pm (£2 per child) both on the farm, and the 1940s cottages will be open Sunday 16th July for crafts, 1940s washing, putting out incendiary bombs, 1940s food tasting and you can visit an Anderson shelter (11am – 4pm, £1 per adult, children free).
