Their celebration was one of love and happiness, bringing together their families from France and England in our beautiful historic setting. Throughout the day special touches from their home countries made the day totally individual and even introduced their guests to something a bit different.

The ceremony took place outside the Turret House in front of 90 guests.  Ingrid, wearing a beautiful ivory gown, was walked down the aisle by her Dad, to the Skyrim theme song. Her wedding ring had been passed along through Ingrid’s family and her flowers were a stunning mix of red, white and blue. Once the ceremony was over the happy couple were treated to a mass of bubble blowing by their guests, making their photos extra special.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]The apothecary garden is a popular setting for wedding photos but, instead of handing out traditional champagne, Ingrid and Robbie’s guests were treated to a glass of mead from Brittany as they chatted to friends and family in the garden.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_2" last="no" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_text]The happy couple chose to have their reception on site at Manor Lodge in an marquee in the grounds of the Tudor ruins. It was time to celebrate all things Yorkshire and what could be more appropriate than tucking into a tasty pie? From beef and blue cheese, to roasted squash and chestnut mushroom there was great variety and this Yorkshire classic was a new experience for several of the guests. Their delicious meal was followed by a stunning chocolate and vanilla sponge tree of life wedding cake.

Of course there’s nothing like a bit of dancing at a wedding, and Ingrid and Robbie had found a vintage DJ to play songs from England and France and get everyone up on the dance floor. When the guests were hot and tired another British staple pulled up in the grounds in the form of an ice cream van!.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_2" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_1" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_text]We asked Ingrid what she thought of the support they received from us at Manor Lodge in the run up to the wedding and she had nothing but positive things to say about our wedding coordinator so it seems they feel they received the personal touch by choosing us as their venue:

On the way to the wedding reception they stopped off at Bramall Lane for a wholly different set of photos, although James may be tempted to change the red to blue...

The reception was again a personalised affair, taking place in a marquee in Francesca’s parent’s back garden. Everything was personalised, handmade or hand picked - from the crockery, to the chocolate favours and table decorations. In order to help you decide whether Manor Lodge might be for you, we are putting together some real life stories of couples who have celebrated their wedding with us. They are all individual and different showing, we hope, that Manor Lodge can help you plan your wedding, your way.

Rebecca and Gareth[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="no" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="2_3" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_text]The day before Rebecca and Gareth’s wedding things were a little worrying. The couple accidentally locked themselves inside a friend’s house and it was looking like getting their chosen two venues ready for the wedding in time might be a tall order.

Fortunately things began to look up. Rebecca and Gareth managed to escape and it turns out setting up two venues wasn't too bad at all. This was going to be a fantastic wedding.

Rebecca and Gareth chose Manor Lodge for their wedding ceremony. They wanted to show off their home city to their guests, so picked a picturesque setting for the ceremony, getting married in May this year in front of the our beautiful historic Turret House. The sun shone down on the wild flowers and apothecary garden which made for stunning photo opportunities and the bride and groom looked wonderful in ivory gown and dark red suit.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_1" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="no" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="no" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="2_3" last="no" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_text]To make the day totally individual, the couple included acoustic versions of their favourite rock music into the ceremony. White and red roses in buttonholes and bouquets were a nod to Yorkshire and Lancashire roots, and rosemary linked the guests with our apothecary garden.

It was important to Rebecca and Gareth that as well as a beautiful historical setting for their wedding they also included Sheffield’s urban heart. Their guests were transported to the reception at The Showroom in a vintage bus, and once there enjoyed vegan food in celebration of the happy couple’s wedding day.

“Having never been to Manor Lodge before we started venue hunting, even we were surprised to find such a picturesque and green place so close to the City centre. The grounds are stunning and offer a wide variety of beautiful places for different photo opportunities. It was the perfect venue to show our guests the hidden gems Sheffield has to offer!”[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_1" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_text]We love seeing how our couple’s plan and use our venue for their special day and are really pleased we could help Rebecca and Gareth celebrate with all their family and friends.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="no" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="no" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_3" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_imageframe lightbox="no" lightbox_image="" style_type="none" hover_type="none" bordercolor="" bordersize="0px" borderradius="0" stylecolor="" align="none" link="" linktarget="_self" animation_type="0" animation_direction="down" animation_speed="0.1" hide_on_mobile="no" class="" id=""] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type="1_1" last="yes" spacing="yes" center_content="no" hide_on_mobile="no" background_color="" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" background_position="left top" border_position="all" border_size="0px" border_color="" border_style="" padding="" margin_top="" margin_bottom="" animation_type="" animation_direction="" animation_speed="0.1" class="" id=""][fusion_text]For information on having your special day with us please visit our wedding page.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

The dust has settled after our battle reenactment but boy did we have fun!

We’ve only just recovered from our History Through the Ages Re-enactment (and sorting through all the fabulous photos) and thought we’d share some of the excitement. We also want to say a HUGE thank you to all the reenactors.

At 7am the site was shrouded in mist but the sun soon burned through to provide us with a glorious day. First up were Regia Anglorum who did battle from their 818AD camp with Viking Invaders.

Next it was the turn of 14th century armour-clad knights do battle for the glory of England and the amusement of the lords, ladies and masses of course.

Muskets were in use by the 17th century and civil war soldiers showcased their firing as visiting children swelled the ranks to learn pike skills.

History Through the Ages veterans, the 2nd Battalion of the Coldstream Guards  were back showing off their firing skills and looking very smart indeed.

Sheffield Manor Lodge is a Tudor site so we thought it was pertinent to invite royalty to preside over the event. Henry VIII and two of his wives, Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn honoured us with their presence, along with his faithful secretary, Thomas Cromwell. He was certainly a lot of fun and firm visitor favourite!

Away from the battlefield visitors visited WW2 jeeps, dressed up with Bess of Hardwick, drank medieval grog and visited living camps.

The action looked even better from the sky.

Here's what one of our visitors had to say on Trip Advisor:

"Absolutely brilliant day out with the family. There was something for everybody. The atmosphere was great, the re-enactment was very good and the whole day was so enjoyable and at £15 for the family it was worth every penny. We visit regularly as it's a lovely place to explore and take a picnic and just enjoy being sat in such an amazing place. Can't wait to see King Henry again, he made my day!"

We had a fantastic day and we want to say a big thank you to everyone who cam to visit, all the reenactors and of course our amazing volunteer team, without whom our events and open days would not be possible.

See you 2nd June 2019!

Introduction

Green Estate is a not-for-profit social enterprise.  We have managed Sheffield Manor Lodge (SML) since 2002 responsible for implementing a major programme of investment to establish Sheffield Manor Lodge as a vibrant and valued community asset.  The site is now transformed into a welcoming and public facing venue which is well used by local people, and by an increasing audience from across Sheffield and beyond.  It boasts a wide range of important cultural, heritage, leisure and community assets and is a significant recreational resource.  It is home to South Yorkshire’s largest Scheduled Ancient Monument, artist studios, a café, a small urban farm, expanses of open parkland, formal gardens, picnic areas and a magnificent viewpoint affording a little known view of the city, the Don Valley and the surrounding hills.

SML is a site of national historic significance as the Tudor home to the 6th Earl of Shrewsbury and his wife Bess of Hardwick, both important noble figures in English history, and is renowned for hosting visits by Mary Queen of Scots during her 14 year captivity in Sheffield.  Today, located in the middle of the large inter-war social housing estates of Manor and Wybourn, Sheffield Manor Lodge is of equal importance and interest for its local history and its parkland and farm area is of tremendous recreational value for its the local Manor and Castle area and local communities.

Our ambitions for the site centre on implementation of a 10 year plan to turn Sheffield Manor Lodge into Sheffield’s premier outdoor attraction.  The imagery we wish to achieve from this photography brief will assist us on the first step of this journey.  Because of a limited budget we propose to work closely with a photographer, who would value being part of this exciting project, to ensure what we want from the brief is deliverable.  A successful partnership could lead to on-going work to support what will be a phased development programme.

Budget

If you are interested in being a part of this new development we will discuss with you how we can utilise our budget to achieve our aims within a rate you can work within.

What are we after?

We need a fresh, new, and vibrant suite of photos that represent SML, the variety of activities that take place and most critically the engagement of our diverse audiences.  These images will be the key visual representation of SML for the next 2-3 years. We are looking for photographs which develop our existing and successful style to a new level. (Examples of previous images used attached).

How they are to be used?

Our main priority is to have images for use on large scale roadside banners and interpretation boards across the site and off-site.  Roadside banners will be a maximum size of 2200mm x 800mm.

They will also be used within leaflets and small publications, and extensively on-line.

Specification

Higher resolution set of images at 300dpi that can be used on a large scale at 75 ppi.  Both portrait and landscape versions will be needed of the same images.

What do we want people to feel when seeing our images?

What do we want to stand out in our photos?

Our previously successful images have been ones which are people centred with a soft focus (see examples).

We want this emphasis to continue and to reflect that SML is a place where our visitors can have interactions with our staff, our animals, our events and activities, and that we are people orientated and encourage strong engagement for visitors.  We want our images to show a diverse profile of our audiences including the very young, older people, families and BME.

What do I want people to do once they have seen the photos?

How?

Our new images need to capture the following:

  1. Celebrate – Your wedding, your way
  2. Discover – History and heritage from Tudor to today
  3. Create – get crafty/activities to keep you busy all holiday
  4. Support – contribute to make a difference
  5. Indulge – bistro style cakes, coffee, chocolate and other tasty treats
  6. Belong – volunteer with our dedicated teams
  7. Explore – wild flower meadows, nature and stunning views
  8. Excite – be part of event day action
  9. Enjoy – spend some quality time together
  10. Engage – get down on the farm and up close with our animals

Some of these will need staging to reduce time (and cost) implications, and we would work with a photographer to bring in people for these shots.  However we would want these images to look as un-staged and natural as possible.

Images will need to be taken outdoors, in sunshine and at Sheffield Manor Lodge.

When we need doing?

By the end of July 2017.

Image Copyrights

GE to have full copyright.

Format

All of the images to be provided as digital copies without watermarks. Images must be 300dpi and a JPEG file. Images can be provided on a USB or via dropbox or similar file sharing service.
