Wedding couple in the Tudor gardens

Helpful hints to enjoy your day

We want our couples to have the most special day when choosing to celebrate with us.
We want all their friends and family to have an amazing time too.

We want everything to run smoothly so we've put together some helpful hints for couples to share with you. We hope you have a fantastic day!

Finding Us and Car Parking

The Turret House can be found at 197 Manor Lane, Sheffield, S2 1UJ
Turn into the car park at the Tudor chimney and you will see a sign that says Sheffield Manor Lodge Discovery Centre.

Manor Oaks House can be found at 389 Manor Lane, Sheffield, S2 1UL
Turn into the car park when you will see a sign saying Manor Oaks site and a low stone wall either side of the entrance.

Free car parking is available at both sites. The car park at the Turret House will close after the ceremony.
Please either move your car to Manor Oaks House car park or park at Manor Oaks House and walk to the Turret House site.
You can leave your car at Manor Oaks over night. Please be aware we cannot take any responsibility for any cars left on site.

If you plan to take a taxi home we strongly recommend booking this in advance.
The location for taxi's is Manor Oaks House (next to the Rhubarb Shed Cafe).

Ceremony Locations

Turret House Ceremony

The doorway of the 16th century Turret House provides a unique setting for an outdoor wedding ceremony.

Entrance is through the Discovery Centre where you will also find our toilets, including an accessible toilet.

Ceremonies usually take place outside in front of the Turret House door. You will find benches for seating.

Alcohol or food cannot be consumed in the ceremony area for one hour prior to the ceremony start time.

Couples often stay for photos amongst the ruins and meadows. Some times they choose to have drinks and games here too, often in our apothecary garden.

Please pay close attention to your invitation to see how long is expected to be spent at the Turret House site.

Manor Oaks House Ceremony

Our barn extends from a rustic farmhouse into a country feel cottage garden with ceremonies taking place inside.

Please enter by walking to the left of the building and entering through the patio doors at the back of the house.

The ceremony will take place inside at either end of the room. You will find chairs for seating.

Alcohol or food cannot be consumed in the ceremony area for one hour prior to the ceremony start time.

We often have to turn the room around between ceremony and reception. If the weather is good, please make use of our gardens. If it is poor, please be aware of our staff moving tables and chairs within the venue. We will do this as quickly as we can and in the least intrusive way possible.

Prepare for the elements

Of course we all hope it will be hot and sunny, but for those times it's grey or rain is forecast, we recommend bringing an umbrella and coat if the ceremony is taking place at the Turret House. At this site, the ceremony will likely be exposed to the elements.

Our Turret House site is grassed and sloping in some areas so please consider shoes carefully.

Moving between the Turret House and Manor Oaks House

If the ceremony is taking place at the Turret House then you will move to Manor Oaks House for the reception. To drive between, turn left out of the car park and drive for approximately 30 seconds, turning at the next set of buildings.

If you are walking, please follow the narrow path that starts on the driveway of the car park. This will closely follow the road and join the main entrance to the car park of Manor Oaks House.

Accessibility

The Turret House is approximately 250 meters from the Discovery Centre across a grassed site with some slopes. For people using wheelchairs or anyone who will struggle with this walk, vehicle access can be arranged, by prior notice, to the Turret House.
Please call or email us to arrange this facility.

The Discovery Centre and Manor Oaks House have marked disabled parking and accessible toilets.
