In accordance with the most recent government advice, and to protect our staff, volunteers and visitors, we are postponing the 2020 opening of our Tudor site and Mr Barnes’ farm indefinitely. This includes our school holiday craft activities and Easter Egg Hunt. We are also cancelling our April First Monday Lecture. A refund will be issued to all those that have bought tickets to our events and should appear in your paypal account within the next few days.
We are very sad to have had to make this decision but we have taken the following into consideration:
• The UK government has issued advice for people to work from home, avoid social contact and places such as pubs and theaters
• Emergency services cannot provide support for mass gatherings
• Many of our volunteers are in the at-risk group and we want to ensure their safety
• With the likelihood of reduced staff numbers, we will not be able to support our activities safely.
The Rhubarb Shed Cafe, which is an independently run business, continues to open as usual and are taking a wide range of measures to make sure their visitors stay safe and well.
The government is still recommending getting out for exercise if you are able, so if you need a breath of fresh air, why not enjoy one of Sheffield’s fantastic parks. The flowers are just starting to peep through, there’s a hint of warmth in the sun and plenty of open space to roam in.
We’re really going to miss our crafts, but you could still have a go at some Easter and spring activities. We get our inspiration from Pinterest and Baker Ross have some fantastic reasonably priced crafts too.
We look forward to seeing all our visitors again once we reopen and thank you all for your continued support. Just in case you didn’t know, we are run by not for profit community interest group, Green Estate. Visitors coming over our doorstep are vital in ensuring we can look after our animals and the history on site. We know this will be a difficult time for many people but if you are able to help in any small way then we would love to hear from you. Stay safe, look after each other and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon. Please keep an eye on our website and social media for updates.
The Tudor Grounds reopen for visitors to discover the history of Sheffield Manor Lodge and meet the animals on Mr Barnes Farm.
New for 2020 we will be offering seasonal trails and craft activities for children that change each and every month so there is always something new to come back for.
But don't worry, our firm favourites are back too.
