Penny Rea will be speaking on The Forgotten Graveyard of Zion Chapel in Attercliffe. In 2017 a disused burial ground in Attercliffe was advertised for sale. A group of volunteers recognised the location as the resting place of anti-slavery campaigner Mary Anne Rawson and applied for permission to find and photograph the grave. What they found when granted access convinced them that this historic site should be saved for posterity and what happened next is part of its continuing history …
